On to Guadelupe la Zorra, El Salvador, the site of the next
project. Senor Mario Andino, past presidente of the San Salvador
Noroeste Rotary Club, introduced me to this poor rural fishing
village of about 10,000 people. Here is Senor Andino and me
with some of the village children. Other photos show the people
of the area.
In order to get to this peninsula of land,
we have to go by boat through the mangrove swamps. What an
adventure! The ride is about 20 minutes.
Another way of getting around is dug out canoe. Note hand
made canoe and paddle. Children are eating watermelon which
is about the size of a softball.
While I was in El Salvador this past spring, there were 3
earthquakes (terremotos).
My first experience with an earthquake! Click on the image
to the right to view a slide-show of the damage. There were
many deaths. |
